The way forward in this current culture often seems unclear, almost like we are looking out at a future that has little we recognize as landmarks that used to guide us.
We know all that happened in 2020 has significantly affected us. This has caused so much stress for couples and families, and communication difficulties often add to frustration and unhappiness in our relationships.
The mission of IFHWB is to help you navigate these challenges and help you find peace and contentment, as well as more effective communication strategies, so you can embrace the joy of living.
My deepest desire is to help you obediently serve God through believing He is here with you, guiding and directing you through the Holy Spirit's voice in your head, your heart, and your soul.
Be a person of gratitude and express your faith in every action you take today. Search for the Truth and be open to surprises from God. Act with virtue in every situation your face and be a good role model for everyone who sees you. Encourage your family members to do the same.
Learning to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit is not as difficult as it may seem. It begins with asking for the Holy Spirit's help and then trusting that when He speaks to us, we are able to trust His voice and respond obediently to what we hear Him asking us to do.

Learning to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit is not as difficult as it may seem. It begins with asking for the Holy Spirit's help and then trusting that when He speaks to us, we are able to trust His voice and respond obediently to what we hear Him asking us to do.
We all want to create loving, connected families and that we feel are able to support and strengthen each member to become the most loving expression of the Holy Spirit within themselves.
We want peace in our homes, not chaos. We want people to love each other and demonstrate loving actions, so that each family member feels a sense of belonging and security.
We also want to help each other get to heaven - that is our overall goal in life - to spend eternity in heaven with God and those we love.
Please use the writings and links on this website to help yourself and your family grow closer to God and to one another through prayerful, holy encounters and moments of grace. Developing a beautiful family culture is something worth working for. The rewards of your efforts will be great and will be passed on to your children for generations. Your efforts will be worth the work, and as you watch your family grow in holiness, you will be so happy you dedicated yourself to this important task.
It is much easier to lose sight of our way than it is to stay focused on our goals. That is because our brain is wired to worry (as if you didn't already know that!).

It is much easier to lose sight of our way than it is to stay focused on our goals. That is because our brain is wired to worry (as if you didn't already know that!).
That is not what God wants for us. He wants us to know we can trust Him and rely on Him to help us get through difficult times. He wants us to use prayer, the Sacred Scriptures (the Bible), and Adoration to help hear His voice in our heads and our hearts.
He wants us to use the Sacraments to help us receive His grace, or His Presence, in our lives, to help us find peace in the midst of these challenging days.
He wants us to remember that He is with us always and that we are never alone. He has NOT left us. This is a confusing time and we will get through it with His help and the help of our faith.
Take time today to pray. Read the Scriptures, attend weekly Mass with your family, pray the Rosary, and attend Adoration if your Church has an Adoration Chapel. Life is made up of moments and we must remember that God is with us in all the moments of our lives. Embrace your life right now and celebrate the moments of today. Believe that you are enough and that this moment is enough. God is good and faithful.
Surround yourself with holy, virtuous families. Choose friends who make good, righteous decisions: decisions you support and are comfortable living in your own family. If there are people you are associated with who do not support a virtuous, holy life, move away from them. Always choose the good!
Make the commitment to be good role models for others. Be a beacon of light in our world.
My name is Dr. Kate Walsh-Soucheray and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, emeritus. I spent two decades in the classrooms of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, where I taught elementary school, middle school, and high school Social Studies and Religion; and ten years working as a licensed marriage and family therapist at Christian Heart Counseling. I was also a stay-at-home mom for 18 years! I have babysat for grandchildren on Friday's for the past 10 years.
I am a Catholic woman, married to my husband John for 40 years next month, and we have three adult, married children, and five lovely grandchildren with another one on the way!!
I have been so blessed to study. I attended St. Catherine University for my bachelor's degree in education and history and then I had the blessing of attending school as a married mother of three children. I have a master's degree in theology from the University of St. Thomas, School of Divinity. A master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Saint Mary's University, and then I worked as a therapist for ten years at Christian Heart Counseling in Stillwater, Minnesota. I then earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Saint Mary's University and I am now a speaker and author, supporting families in this confusing era. Throughout all my studies, I did my very best to listen to the voice of God in my head, my heart, and my soul and to follow obediently what He asked of me. This is not an easy task and one that requires an abundance of God's Grace, because it requires so much courage to overcome our own human fears, temptations, and doubts. It is only through His Grace that we are able to accomplish what He asks of us.
Learning to live a virtuous life is a lifelong process and one we enter into willingly each day, through the Grace of God. Find my podcast "Virtuous Living Made Simple" on Spotify and on my YouTube Channel "Virtuous Living Made Simple."
May God's blessings, goodness, and faithfulness be evident to you today and every day!
